Parent Engagement

Congratulations! You’ve been accepted to attend the Parent Engagement with the Herzog Foundation. This event is our investment in you and your school. Each seat costs the foundation $1,000 to provide; you only cover your time and travel! We are covering the cost of this training for you because we believe in making quality training available to your school.

Here’s what we ask in return to make this time as valuable as possible:

Pre-Event Work

You must complete the pre-event work at least 3 weeks in advance. This includes the pre-event form and any reading. This step is imperative for our time together. Not only will you prepare for the learning, but our coaches will be able to better understand your school’s unique context as they prepare for our time together. Here is the expected pre-event work for this training:

Full Attendance

We expect full attendance of the training event from start to finish. This includes all sessions, activities, meals, and even breaks! This also means that we ask you not to take or schedule any calls over the training days to protect the time for strategic thinking and engaging with the community around you. Here are some helpful tips to ensure full attendance:

Travel

1. Plan to arrive to the hotel at least an hour before our start time on day one. This means that if you’re driving, budget in a little cushion for traffic or missed turns. If you’re flying, we recommend booking a flight with arrival time that allows for airport logistics and transportation to the hotel that gives you plenty of time to arrive to the hotel before we begin.
2. Don’t be in a rush to get to a flight or return home. On the last day of the event, there are no exceptions for early departures. You must be in attendance until the end of the closing session. Don’t put yourself in a hurry to catch a flight or hit the road ahead of time.
3. After completing the training, we've established a best practice: booking a flight departing three hours after the conclusion of training ensures ample time for travel arrangements.
4. If driving or renting a car, parking is considered a travel cost and is therefore covered by the school.
5. If you need an extra room night on the front or back end of the training please contact the hotel directly. Payment will be collected at check-in.
6. Please also be aware that there may be a dinner on your own. Check the agenda in Connect Space to see if there is a meal on your own and anticipate that cost. This is sometimes given as an opportunity for you to connect with the other guests over a meal or get an early night in.

Back Home

1. Prepare your staff that you are unplugging from day-to-day work to do strategic learning for your school.
2. Pray for a meaningful time off-site as you leave your school to connect with other leaders and grow in your capacity as a leader!

Cancellations or Changed Plans

1. If you can’t commit to these things, please simply register for a future event! We run events year-round and around the country. If you cannot attend the full event, there is another Christian school leader who can.
2. If you need to cancel, we understand that things come up! Please submit this cancellation form at least 14 days from the start of the event. Any cancellations within a 14-day window of the event are only excused for illness, emergency, or similar reasons. Late cancellations or partial attendance without cause will affect your school’s ability to attend future events.

Event Info & Agenda

All information and communication will go through the event platform Connect Space. You can use the web version on your laptop or if you have an IPhone, download the app (community code: herzogfoundation). Hotel, venue, activities, agenda, speaker lists, and more can be found on this platform. Please direct all questions to the event page on Connect Space first and keep an eye on it for updates as the event nears!
