Synopsis
The National Summit on Civics in Catholic Education will showcase the integral role of civic education in K-12 Catholic schools. Education as formation should foster fidelity and responsibility in young men and women: love for God, for neighbor, and for country. We desire to form graduates who take their role as citizens seriously by faithfully pursuing truth and beauty in the public square. At this Summit, we will explore the history of civic-based Catholic education in America and generate ideas around civic engagement for our students today. Teachers and school leaders are encouraged to attend together to explore how their school can strengthen civic engagement in the classroom and in the community.
With special guest speakers and the beautiful venue at Benedictine College, this event is sure to spark inspiration and conversation around reclaiming civic education in our schools.
Who’s it For?
We recommend schools bring two to three members to this training. There will be sessions for headmasters/administration, teachers, and other nonprofit leaders in this space.
Benedictine College, with the generous support of the William S. Knight Foundation, has funding available to supplement travel costs for participants in need of additional financial support. As a reminder, your hotel, transportation to the college, and meals are covered while on site. If you would like to request travel assistance, please contact Isaac Michael (mich6483@ravens.benedictine.edu).
